Being there and joining in
Experience something new every day - hiking, walking about or cycling. On innumerable paths and tracks you can scout this interesting varied region, passing meadows covered with flowers and viewing points inviting a break. Climb the tops of the mountains - Herzogstand (1731 m), Heimgarten (1790) and Jochberg (1567 m) - or take the cable car up to one of the favourite mountains of King Louis II of Bavaria, the Herzogstand. The circular walks through the Loisach moorlands are less strenuous, but equally exiting.
And why don't you visit us in winter some time. The walks along our well cleared paths are quite an experience in winter. And, you can go on many kilometres of cross-country tracks, or you just go on the small round track between the villages of Bichl and Kochel. Families with children can go downhill skiing using the T-bar lifts at Walchensee and Kochel; those more experienced will have fun on the Herzogstand run snowboarding or carving downhill and enjoying a break on the sunny terrace of the mountain hut.
Click on "Leisure Activities" to find all you can do in the Loisachtal valley, around Lake Kochelsee as well as Lake Walchensee. The menu item "Surroundings" lists all places worth a visit in the surroundings; and "Herzogstand cable car" menu item tells you all you want to know about Kochel's local mountain.
